PLEXR

Drooping eyelids is a natural occurring condition that creates an unflattering ‘sleepy eye’ look. The edge of the upper eyelid may be lower than it should be (ptosis) or there may be excess baggy skin in the upper eyelid (dermatochalasis). Eyelid drooping is often a combination of both conditions. Occasionally, droopy eyelid can progress beyond the cosmetic aspect and affect your vision.

WHAT CAUSES A DROOPY EYELID?

One of the most common causes of drooping eyelids is the ageing process, which causes wrinkling of the skin and stretching of the levator muscle of the eyes. The fatty deposits beneath the skin can also contribute to saggy eyelids.

ARE THERE ANY TREATMENTS AVAILABLE FOR DROOPY EYES?

Droopy eyes give us a tired and sad look, sometimes referred to ‘weepy eyes’ and tend to make us look older than we actually are. This condition can be easily corrected at Medi-Sculpt with a non-surgical and non-invasive device called Plexr.

WHAT IS PLEXR?

Developed in Italy, Plexr is an innovative medical device that opened a new and exciting frontier in the fields of aesthetic medicine. At the moment it is considered to be the only non –surgical Blepharolplasty option on the market, being able to provide dramatic results for a large variety of skin concerns.

This revolutionary tool offers an alternative option to procedures that would otherwise require very expensive plastic and cosmetic surgery. Here are some advantages over plastic surgery: no cutting of skin, no stitches, no risk of blindness, minimal side effects, no thinning of the skin, low downtime, and most importantly, it’s a very safe treatment and is suitable for all skin types.

HOW DOES PLEXR WORK?

The device creates a series of minute dots on the targeted area of the skin, triggering an instant contraction, which tightens the skin fibers to create a lifting, and rejuvenating effect. To achieve this, it uses plasma. The ionisation of gases in the air create a small electrical “arc” that is used to treat targeted areas without damaging surrounding areas.

HOW LONG DOES THE PROCEDURE TAKE?

The treatment usually takes between 10-40 minutes.

WHEN WILL I SEE AN IMPROVEMENT?

The effects of treatment will be evident immediately after treatment; however, the best results will be seen after three weeks. For maximum results, 3 treatments are usually required at 6 weekly intervals.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

Plexr is more than a simple tightening treatment, skin is actually removed, and therefore, the results should last for years.
Dr. Reddy recommends you start with one treatment session and and a review after three months to determine if you need one or two more treatments.

IS IT PAINFUL?

The Plexr treatment is not painful. Before the commencement of the treatment, an anesthetic cream is applied and is left to take effect for around 30 minutes. There are no scalpels and no suturing involved.

IS IT A SAFE PROCEDURE?

The Plexr device is considered to be very safe when used by a fully trained, medical practitioner.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?

Due to its non-invasive nature, Plexr has been shown to be a safe treatment.
during the 7 days following the treatment, patients are likely to experience some brown marks that have the appearance of minor scabbing. These are carbon crusts that will slowly fall off, revealing new pink skin beneath. Some swelling will be seen, but it will only last 3-5 days.

WHAT IS THE RECOVERY TIME?

After the treatment, you may experience a burning sensation that will last a few hours.

It is advised to avoid driving, due to potential irritation or swelling around the eye area, following your Plexr procedure.

Aftercare instructions will be given to you by Dr. Reddy to ensure that you see the best results.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

The Plexr Procedure costs R 5000 per treatment.
