SCAR TREATMENTS

Restylane is a formulation of non-animal sourced hyaluronic acid and is most commonly used for lip volume and contouring and off late is being used remarkably successfully for Scar Treatments. Medi Sculpt uses FDA approved Restylane to treat moderate to severe acne scars. Treatment using Restylane and other products of its family including Restylane L, Parlene and Parlene L are the future of facial fillers and are highly effective in scar treatments too.

The active ingredient in Restylane is Hyaluronic acid. This is a completely natural found in the human body and is found mainly in connective, skin and neural tissues. An average 70 kg person will have roughly 14 to 15 grams of Hyaluronic acid in his or her body. Of these 15 grams around one third is degraded and synthesized daily. Hyaluronic acid is primarily responsible for skin tissue repair. However with age or after prolonged exposure to UV rays or harsh sunlight the body produces lesser amount of this repair agent. Hyaluronic acid based products are used by eye surgeons as a healing lubricant during cataract, corneal and other surgical procedures.

Restylane's active ingredient works in healing scar tissues in a complex way. To put it simply it acts just as your body's natural hyaluronic acid will work – firstly the slight inflammation it causes 'brings' the skin cells building blocks to the affected site, controls the inflammation and aids in the final regeneration and replacement of the outer layer of skin. It is the same compound that gives your skin the volume and suppleness as it attracts and binds water and helps fill up the treated area. One word of caution though, hyaluronic acid is safe and approved but should be used under the supervision of a qualified doctor only, just as we offer it to you in Medi-Sculpt.
